Frequently Asked Questions – Residential & Commercial Appliance Repair
What is the best way to clean the burners and grates on my cooktop unit?
First, always refer to the manufacturers use and care guidelines! In general, though, we suggest a soft non-abrasive cloth and good old white vinegar. Not only does white vinegar work as a great cleaner, but it is food safe, water soluble, and environmentally friendly.
I have cast iron grates and burners; what’s the best way to clean them?
For cast iron burner caps and grates, treat them as you would a cast iron skillet – they are best when seasoned. Clean them in the sink with warm soapy water. Rinse and dry with soft nonabrasive cloth completely. Prevent rust and keep them black with an extremely light coating of salt free cooking oil.
What is the best way to get the purest ice from my ice machine?
Never keep anything in the ice storage bin that is not ice; objects like wine or beer bottles are not only unsanitary, but the labels may slip off and plug up the drain. Never allow the machine to operate without regular cleaning. Regular cleaning should happen at least once per year, and preferably twice. Some water conditions will dictate even more frequent cleaning of the ice making section, and some carpets or pets will dictate more frequent cleaning of the condenser. Call us today to schedule a preventative maintenance and cleaning service t not only keep the ice pure, but extend the life of your machine.
I am not sure if my wine captain is cooling properly. What is the best way to check the internal temperature?
1. Partially fill a plastic (nonbreakable) bottle with water.
2. Insert an accurate thermometer.
3. Tighten the bottle cap securely.
4. Place the bottle in the desired area for 24 hours.
5. Avoid opening the unit during the testing period.
6. After 24 hours, check the temperature of the water. If required, adjust the temperature control in a small increment (See ADJUSTING TEMPERATURE).
Causes which affect the internal temperatures of the cabinet include: • Temperature setting. • Ambient temperature where installed. • Installation in direct sunlight or near a heat source. • The number of door openings and the time the door is open. • The time the internal light is illuminated. (This mainly affects product on the top rack or shelf.) • The front grille or condenser are obstructed.
